Short Course: Bambina Bumpers - Half Day Beginners Intensive

Duration: 5 Hours (incl. 1/2 hour break)

Restrictions: 18+ Years Only

Experience: Beginner (but is also a great refresher course for an experienced burlesquer!)

NOTE: This course is a half day condensed version of our 6 week beginners course. Limited to 10 people only.

This course is the perfect course to start you on your way to sparkly stardom! Suitable for beginners from ages 18+ and any ability, you’ll learn about the art of the tease through a half day intensive, taught by Bambina Burlesque Academy Headmistress, Lilly Loca.

This course works out $40.00 cheaper than the 6 week course which is $120.00. 

In this intensive, you’ll learn the following: 

- The rich history of burlesque, along with the various different styles and inspirations
- How to accentuate and flaunt your best bits!
- Burlesque 101 - staple burlesque moves, glove peels and bowers
- Props & Costumes (oh the sparkles!)
- Burlesque and You - how to develop your burlesque persona + etiquette
- Basic character and stage presence

There will also be a chance for a Q&A at the end of the intensive.

Attendees will need to bring along the following:
- Notebook & pen
- Water bottle
- Food

(Note: there will be a half hour break near the middle of the course for you to get lunch/coffee if need be)

Lilly will provide:
- 1x pair of gloves
- 1x feather boa (feel free to bring your own if you wish)
- Print outs of moves and information discussed in class

Short Course: Acting Technique & CHARACTERIZATION

Duration: 2 Hours

Restrictions: 16+ Years Only

Experience: Beginner - Advanced

This class is dedicated to helping you learn about the techniques of drama (voice, body, movement and space), character & movement, and how you can apply them to any style of performance!

Natalie (aka. Lilly Loca) is a New Zealand Registered Secondary School Drama Teacher and has had five and a half years teaching and directing drama inside schools and out. Combined with her experience as a professional actress, vaudevillian, MC and producer in New Zealand, this will be one workshop you won't want to miss.

Known for being the 'mistress of disguise' and for her various characters, she'll help you develop as a performer and a person!

In this two hour intensive, you will learn the following though various different exercises:

- Voice - pitch, tone, volume, accent

- Body - facial expression, posture, eye contact, gesture

- Movement - timing, energy, dance

- Space - personal, general, levels

- Seven levels of tension

- The basics of improvisation

- Characterization

- Melodramatic techniques

This workshop is fabulous for anyone regardless of experience. So long as you have an open mind and are eager to participate, there's a space for you!

What you will need to bring/wear:

- Comfortable clothes that don't restrict your movement

- Water & Food

- Notepad & pen for making jot notes

- A sense of fun and an open mind!

Short Course: Burlesque Poses, Moves and Grooves

Duration: 1.5 Hours

Restrictions: 18+ Years Only

Experience: Beginner - Advanced

Minimum of 4 people required. Maximum 12.

Are you in a bit of a creative funk and need some inspiration for poses, moves and grooves for your next routine?

Have a ball in this fun 1.5 hour workshop, where Lilly will help you accentuate your best bits and also teach you some classic poses and walks you can incorporate into your next burlesque routine. 

This workshop is fabulous for anyone regardless of experience. So long as you have an open mind and are eager to participate, there's a space for you!

What you will need to bring/wear:

- 1x boa (feather or otherwise)

- 1x pair of gloves (preferably elbow or opera length)

- Comfortable clothes that don't restrict your movement

- Water

- Notepad & pen for making jot notes

- A sense of fun and an open mind!

Short Course: Producing: A Comprehensive Guide

Duration: 2 Hours

Restrictions: 18+ Years Only

Experience: Beginner - Advanced

Minimum of 4 people required. Maximum 10.

Want to get into producing, but haven't a clue where to start? Lilly Loca, who has been producing sell-out burlesque and vaudeville shows since 2011, can teach you the foundations of what you need to know to be able to produce your very own show. Topics will include:

- Choosing performers for your show
- What cast you'll need and where to find them
- How to choose the best venue
- Performer and venue negotiations
- How to make your show stand out from the rest
- Marketing
- Administration
- How to effectively run a show
- Producer and performer etiquette
- Budgets and numbers

A detailed and comprehensive handbook with information will be given to you and will be talked over in class. 

What to bring:

- Pen & Notepad

- Water Bottle

Note: This class is very much theory based - so bring a cushion and wear comfy clothes!

Short Course: Fluttery, Flirty Feathers! A Beginners Guide to Fan Dancing.

Duration: 1.5 Hours

Restrictions: 18+ Years Only

Experience: Beginner - Advanced

Have you purchased yourself some indulgent, floofy feather fans, but are at a bit of a loss on how to use them? This is the course for you!

Let Lilly Loca teach you the basics of how to wrangle your fans (and limbs) to ensure beautiful, fluid movement from one pose to the next.

You'll receive a comprehensive resource booklet with all the moves written out and displayed in detail for you to take home.

This workshop is fabulous for anyone regardless of experience. So long as you have an open mind and are eager to participate, there's a space for you!

What you will need to bring/wear:

- 1x pair of feather fans (the bigger, the better!)

- Comfortable clothes that don't restrict your movement

- High heels (whichever heel height you prefer)

- Water

- Notepad & pen for making jot notes

- A sense of fun and an open mind!

SHORT COURSE: the knack of mcing

Duration: 2 hours

Restrictions: 16+ Years Only

Experience: Beginner - Advanced

Have you got the gift of the gab? Ever thought you'd do a pretty swell job of hosting a show? Let Lilly Loca, who has been MCing burlesque shows, corporate, fashion & charity events since 2011 give you a run down on how to be a supreme compère through various exercises and role play activities (as well as some theory too!). 

This workshop is fabulous for anyone regardless of experience. So long as you have an open mind and are eager to participate, there's a space for you!

What you will need to bring/wear:

- Comfortable clothes and shoes that don't restrict your movement

- Water
